Review

“A collectible book.”
Jagannath Prasad Das, Saraswati Samman winning writer

“Odia short story is a powerful genre in Indian literature. Classic stories by writers are at par with world-class short stories. I hope this will be appreciated by Odia readers worldwide.”
Pratibha Ray, Jnanapitha award-winning writer

“This meticulously prepared collection of Odia classic short stories mirrors the ethos of life in Odisha through the prism of time. While the characters are unique in themselves confronting the challenges as time brings upon them, they symbolically transcend the boundaries of time and place.”
Ramachandra Behera, Sahitya Academy award-winning writer

“A selection of classic Odia short fictions. The best of Twentieth century Odia literature.”
Tarunkanti Mishra, Sahitya Academy award-winning writer

“Short stories everywhere carry two very important things, the tang of the soil from which they grew up and the universality of the human psyche. A highly successful story is both local and global at the same time.”
Dash Benhur, Sahitya Academy award-winning writer and columnist

“Unputdownable.”
Gourahari Das, Sahitya Academy award-winning writer and Editor-Katha

“For Odia readers, this superb collection of some of the best-known short stories is a treat. Read them in any order you wish, dipping into Odisha’s rich cultural and social history while you enjoy each story, written in its author’s unique and distinctive style. Or start from the beginning with Fakir Mohan’s “Rebati,” and see the form grow and change, reflecting new concerns.”
Satya P Mohanty, Professor of English, Cornell University
